He's been sidelined for the past two weeks with a back injury, but the wait could be over for Ben Warren after being named in the 25-man squad for Sunday's match.

One of the few shining lights in the round two drubbing at the hands of the Saints, Warren sits fifth on the club's goalkicking list and his tireless work-rate could be pivotal in shutting down St Kilda's defensive drive.

But he may have to fight for the supply of football after Hamish McIntosh's successful moves up forward, Aaron Edwards’ recent form in a lead-up role and Sam Wright’s effectiveness in attack.

A dangerous opposition Saints’ midfield has prompted Brad Scott to look at Marcus White as a possible inclusion as the Kangaroos look to fight off the fast finishing Demons who are also vying for a finals spot. A win will help North stay ahead on the ladder and close in on eighth spot.

Promoted from the rookie list in round 18, White has played just the one senior game, but his efforts in run-with roles on the calibre of Nahas, Melksham and Yarran at VFL level demand respect.

David Hale is also in the mix despite spending much of the past month in the ruck for North Ballarat.

The big man would normally be expected to play deep in attack for the Kangaroos, but McIntosh's exploits up forward could provide an opportunity in a different role.

With three players still to be omitted from the 25-man squad, it promises to be a nervous wait for some before the final team's are submitted on Friday.
