FREMANTLE champion Matthew Pavlich's famous number 29 has been left in the locker for 2017, with the Dockers deciding not to allocate the jumper to any player in either the AFL or AFLW teams.
CEO Steve Rosich confirmed the club would honour the 353-game veteran by resting the number for at least next season.
“In addition, as per our established protocol, in the year after Matthew’s retirement we will go through a formal process with the board to determine how best to acknowledge Matthew’s contribution to the club in the longer term,” Rosich added.
The Dockers handed its first pick in the draft, Griffin Logue, the No.2 jumper formerly worn by co-captain Adrian Fletcher, while ruckman Sean Darcy was given No.4.
Fremantle's other two choices in the National Draft, Brennan Cox and Luke Ryan, were issued No.36 and 38 respectively.
Rookies Taylin Duman (No.44) and Luke Strnadica (No.45) rounded out the new draftees' numbers.
