Reinvented forward Mark Nicoski has been named in the Australian squad for the 2011 International Rules Series to be played in Melbourne and on the Gold Coast.

As the sole WA-based player nominated for the side, Nicoski was selected after an outstanding season in front of goal, the 26-year-old playing in each of West Coast’s 25 games.

The team, to be led by former Sydney Swans and Western Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade, is defending the Cormac McAnallen trophy, which was won 2-0 in Ireland last year under the leadership of captain Adam Goodes and coach Mick Malthouse.

The first Test will be played at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne on Friday, October 28, with the second Test played at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast on Friday, November 4.  Both matches will be broadcast nationally by Network Ten and simulcast into Ireland via TG4.

The squad will come together in Melbourne next week to prepare for the series, before travelling to the Gold Coast on Sunday October 30.
