In windy conditions, which made it a scrappy contest, Mitch Duncan, Jimmy Bartel, Paul Chapman and Daniel Menzel all kicked two goals as the home side won 17.20 (122) to 6.7 (43).
Bartel and fellow onballers Joel Selwood and James Kelly were dominant in the middle of the ground, while Brad Ottens outclassed Dean Brogan in the ruck.
Power coach Matthew Primus placed a lot of men behind the ball, a tactic that limited his team's losing margin but meant it was rarely able to run the ball past half-forward (the inside-50 count finished at 72-34 in Geelong's favour).
Robbie Gray slotted two goals for Port Adelaide, while Matthew Broadbent tried hard to stem the flow.
The first quarter was a turgid affair, with both teams let down by poor skills.
When the siren finally ended it, after 27 minutes and 45 seconds of fumbles and turnovers, the scoreboard showed the Cats leading by seven points, 2.6 to 1.5.
The opening minutes of the second term weren't much better, although the match did briefly come to life when Gray soared over Corey Enright to snare a great mark.
He played on and narrowed the margin to one point, but from there it was all one way traffic in the other direction.
Hunt, Chapman, Stokes and Ling all bagged goals, and by half-time Geelong was 30 points up.
If the Cats had kicked straight - they had 6.11 on the board at the long break - the game would have been done and dusted.
Thanks to five goals in the third quarter, Geelong did have it wrapped up by the last change.
And the final term was more of the same, with the Cats cantering to yet another win at home.
Influential players
Geelong midfielder James Kelly did as he pleased in the first half, gathering 23 possessions. He continued on his merry way after the break, finishing the match with 38 touches and eight tackles.
Travis Boak tried hard for Port Adelaide. He continually put his head over the ball, his day's work including 15 contested possessions.
Magic moment
The opening stages of the game were truly awful. It was a case of turnover after turnover. The only excuse for the players was a fairly strong breeze blowing across the ground. But at the 10 minute mark of the first quarter, with the Power leading two behinds to four, Steve Johnson accepted a handball from James Podsiadly, ran close to the boundary line, then slotted a brilliant left-foot goal.
What it means
Geelong has now won 24 consecutive matches at Skilled Stadium and is sitting pretty in second place on the ladder. In fact, the Cats and Collingwood are the only teams to be unbeaten after three rounds.
Port Adelaide's players need to try and lift themselves for next weekend's Showdown against Adelaide. However, it's their round five home game against Gold Coast that shapes as the Power's best chance of opening their account for the season.
Dream Team highlight
Geelong: In his first game back after suffering a serious concussion in round one, Joel Selwood (price: $443,700) produced a dominant performance in the midfield. He ended the afternoon with 34 possessions and 129 Dream Team points.
Port Adelaide: Jasper Pittard, who grew up just down the road from Geelong in Torquay, accumulated 79 points. Given he has played in every game so far this year, his price, which was $97,600 before the game, should rise considerably this week.
Next four:
Geelong: Sydney Swans (SCG), Hawthorn (MCG), bye, North Melbourne (Skilled Stadium)
Port Adelaide: Adelaide (AAMI Stadium), Gold Coast (AAMI Stadium), North Melbourne (Etihad Stadium), Hawthorn (AAMI Stadium)
What the coaches said
Chris Scott (Geelong)
"We had 13 goalkickers. That's a really good effort. We don't rely on one or two players, we've always said that. We had some players playing different roles - Menzel was able to kick three last week, but he went back and we thought he was pretty solid as a defender. Cam Mooney went back and did a job for us. We've got some areas to improve in, but the spreading of the load is the most positive thing at the moment."
Matthew Primus (Port Adelaide)
"In the first quarter we played like we wanted to. We moved the ball in a quick fashion and won a lot of ball through the midfield and then we just didn’t have enough people to keep winning it in the second and third quarters."
