Brownlow medalist Jimmy Bartel believes he dodged a bullet in Friday night’s clash with St Kilda.
Bartel had his right armed pinned under him late in the contest and originally feared he had suffered a break. But on Sunday he said he felt he had avoided serious injury.
"I did (fear a break),” Bartel told Channel Seven.
“I heard a pretty loud crack as the two boys landed on it But I looked at and it looked all right, but it was pretty tender.
"I was happy I got my arm out from underneath those two."
Bartel had walked away with a hyper-extended elbow, and the Cats star said he is confident of playing the Kangaroos next week.
" Last night it was pretty stiff and sore, but I woke up this morning and I've got a fair bit of movement in it now," he said.
"It just swelled up like if you roll an ankle, and once you get that out you can move around a bit."
Cats coach Mark Thompson also said he expects Bartel is likely to quickly bounce back.
"They sort of bleed and they get sore, but usually you can tape them up and play with them unless there is some structural damage there," Thompson told ABC radio.
"I'm not sure whether there is (structural damage) but going on what the doctors said, they were pretty confident there wasn't much there."
The Cats will also await medical reports on Harry Taylor, who suffered a lacerated foot, and Steve Johnson, who appeared to suffer a potential broken hand.
