PORT Adelaide has joined the Adelaide Crows in rallying around the communities affected by the Adelaide Hills bushfires.
The fire burned through 13,000 hectares of land and destroyed or badly damaged more than 30 homes, in South Australia's worst bushfires since Ash Wednesday in 1983.
The Power will hold a community football clinic next Tuesday at Kersbrook Football Club in the heart of the fire-affected region, with children and families of surrounding townships also invited to attend the event.
The entire playing list will be involved in the clinic.
Power chief executive Keith Thomas said the club was keen to show its support.
"All Australians know the challenges posed by bushfires and the communities in the Adelaide Hills have had to confront the area's worst since 1983," he said.
"All the players have been very enthusiastic to volunteer their time and run a clinic at Kersbrook for all the families from the many communities affected by the fires and it's just a small contribution we can make in the immediate aftermath of the emergency.
"We're looking forward to getting out and meeting with the locals, cooking a barbecue and running some activities and autograph sessions for the local kids."
Port Adelaide will also donate 100 per cent of its gate takings from the club's first pre-season hit-out at Alberton Oval to the state bushfire relief fund, to help in the repair and rebuild of fire affected towns and areas.
Supporters will be asked to make a gold coin donation at the intra-club match under lights on February 27.
The Crows showed their support last week with ruckman Sam Jacobs, forward Taylor Walker and Matthew Jaensch visiting CFS firefighters at One Tree Hill station on Tuesday to show their appreciation for their efforts.
Adelaide is also currently running an online auction to raise money for the Bushfire Emergency Relief Fund and CFS Foundation, with players donating signed guernseys and football boots to the cause.
The online auction ends at 11:30pm on Friday January 16.
