North Melbourne’s new facilities were graced with the presence of true club loyalty on Thursday with Jim and Phil Krakouer paying a visit for the first time.

Phil arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday night and was quick to meet up with his brother and get down to Arden Street for a look at the now unfamiliar layout.

“I was amazed when I drove down the street and saw the incredible building,” Jim Krakouer told kangaroos.com.au.

“The boys here are pretty lucky in here now.”

The Krakouer brothers came to North Melbourne in 1982 and were instant fan favourites with their dazzling play and electrifying skills.

The pair hailed from Mount Barker in Western Australia and were recruited by the Claremont Football Club in 1978 before bursting onto the VFL scene.

“It was pretty daunting for us to move to Melbourne but it was good to be doing it together,” Phil said.

“Geelong were also pretty keen to have us but in the end we chose North.”

In Melbourne to help Kangaroos celebrate 25 years of Friday night football, the brothers had a chance to tour the new Arden Street building and catch up with Wayne Carey.

“We spoke about being at the club all those years ago and Wayne was talking about the time when I knocked out Anthony Rock in a training drill,” Phil said.

“Rocky had tackled me in a drill and I wasn’t expecting it.”

Jim and Phil will be special guests at a club function tomorrow night as North Melbourne takes on Carlton.

Along with Carey, a whole list of club greats will be honoured including Glenn Archer, Denis Pagan, John Law, Matt Larkin, Anthony Stevens, John Kennedy and Peter German.

“It should be a real good night for us to see everyone. We don’t get a chance to see many club people these days,” Phil Krakouer said
