COLLINGWOOD may have gone through the season undefeated but every VFLW team believes the Premiership favourites can be beaten.

It was Geelong that came closest to knocking off the Pies in round one, just falling short by 2-points. Cats midfielder Tamara Smith believes there’s “no reason” why her side can’t get the job done on their third try.

"They have a lot of depth and that’s a huge testament to them, it’s awesome to see they have such a great program," Smith said.

"I back all of our girls and I think we all back our style of football, it’s about not letting them get their hands on the footy."

Port Melbourne didn’t get as close as the Cats but captain and former Pie, Mel Kuys, was forensic in her analysis of how to overcome the premiership favourites.

"I think just their outside ball is number one, so probably stopping that early and having a defensive mindset front the outset over being offensive straight away. I think we did that a little bit through quarters, but you need that for all four quarters," Kuys believes.

"You need to really stop that inside ball as they love to get it on the outside, but they also love to use the middle when they can on that fast play."

Collingwood has won its last five games by an average of 46-points and captain Caitlin Bunker knows her team has a target on its back heading into finals.

"You could argue that for the back half of the season we’ve already had a bit of a target on our backs and I think our ability to stand up in those tough games, where it came down to the fourth quarter, was a real testament to our group," Bunker said.

"That has been a real test and our ability to get that job finished, particularly in tough conditions, shows we can handle that pressure."

"It comes down to our connection. We pick everybody up, we’re really positive and we’re really encouraging, so I think everybody feels confident. Because of that confidence we know we have each other’s backs and I think that confidence really meshes us together as a group and that’s our strength."

Tamara Smith - Geelong

"Why can’t we? We’ve become a champion team and not a team of champions, that’s why we can get it done. We are there to play for each other, no one is there to play for themselves. We believe that we win together and we lose together. When the AFLW season ended we welcomed those girls in and whoever plays on the day, whoever is coaching, whoever is on the sidelines, we are there for each other."

Mel Kuys - Port Melbourne

"I think we have characters that when they’re playing their best football they can match it against anyone, it’s just a matter of them opening up and playing the best footy that they can. I think our quick transition style of football means that when we’re playing fast through the midfield and we’re playing confidently we can score quickly, so that’s what we’re hoping to achieve in the next couple of weeks."

Ally Kirkwood - Casey Demons

"We like to play with speed, we like to open the ground up with lots of tackle pressure and work around the contest and that’s what we’ll be bringing this finals series. We can win because we’re exciting to watch, we’re an exciting team and we have the players to execute the style that we want to play and that’s why we can win."

Georgia Nanscawen - Essendon

"We’ve always played very much a team game and we don’t rely on a single player to win it for us. I think we’re pretty even across the board and the fact that we have, for the most part of the season, stayed as a consistent team means we’ve got a great bond and we have a lot of fun together. We also have our fight, we’re pretty contested, we love a tackle and I back us in a contest any day and we’ll be relying on that through the finals."

Mel Bertuna - Southern Saints

"There’s just so many factors, we’ve worked so hard this whole season.
