WESTERN Bulldog Callan Ward is set to announce he is leaving the club and joining expansion side Greater Western Sydney, The Age reports.

Age journalist Jake Niall says that the 21-year-old is poised to sign a five-year deal believed to be worth between $750,000-$800,000 a year.

"[Bulldogs] officials met Ward last Thursday to try and persuade him to stay, but sources have confirmed that Ward has decided to take up the GWS offer and become a key player in establishing the AFL's 18th team," Niall writes.

It comes as club great Luke Darcy urged the budding midfielder to stay loyal to the club he grew up within walking distance of.

"Maybe I'm old school, but I still think there is so much to gain from being a one-club player," Darcy told the Herald Sun.

If the reports are correct, the Bulldogs will become the second player to lose two players to the League's newest teams, having lost Jarrod Harbrow to Gold Coast last year.

Adelaide lost All Australian defender Nathan Bock to the Suns last year before promising defender Phil Davis recently announced his intention to join the Giants.
