VICTORIA skipper Jonathan Brown has been named in the final side to take on the Dream Team in the Hall of Fame Tribute Match at the MCG this Saturday night.

Brown has been under an injury cloud and planned to base his availability on how his injured quad pulled up from Thursday's training session.

The Brisbane Lions spearhead is clearly happy with the way his leg is feeling, giving the green light for his inclusion in the side of 25.

"I'm playing, I'm right to go, I did my fitness test (Thursday) and pulled up well," Brown said. "If you can kick goals from 50 metres there's nothing too much wrong with your quad.

"I'm 100 per cent confident, I feel a lot better for doing that (Thursday) and I'm ready to go.

"If I was playing for Brisbane I'd be playing so I'm very keen to go."

Brown said it was a huge honour to be leading Victoria against the Dream Team and added that the feeling in the build-up to the game was similar to that in grand final week and that he felt better for missing last round's home-and-away clash against Geelong.

"I've just been focused on getting my body up for this game."

Brown drew some laughs when he jokingly suggested Victorian and Geelong coach Mark Thompson had told Brown to pull out against the Cats.

"'Bomber' rang me last Thursday before the Geelong game and said: 'Just make sure you pull out and are ready for the big game'."

Thompson quickly jumped in saying: "No I didn't Leigh".

This was in reference to Lions coach Leigh Matthews, who was unsure whether Brown should play for Victoria after being a late withdrawal against the Cats.

The unlucky five to miss out on final selection for the Vics are Gary Ablett, Nick Dal Santo and Brad Johnson, all forced to withdraw with injury, while Hawks pair Jarryd Roughead and Brad Sewell have been named as emergencies.

The Vics have named Matthew Scarlett at fullback and Trent Croad at centre half-back, indicating either defender could be tipped to take Lance 'Buddy' Franklin.

The midfield packs plenty of punch with Adam Goodes and Brent Harvey named on the wings, with Brownlow Medal-winning duo Jimmy Bartel and Chris Judd on the ball.

The Big V's bench lists Josh Fraser, Luke Power, Paul Chapman, James Kelly, Nathan Foley, Scott Pendlebury and Joel Selwood.

The Dream Team has included Ben Rutten, Adam Cooney, Dean Cox and Franklin in the side, despite the four being under injury clouds of their own in the lead-up to the game.

The defensive set up is influenced heavily by the miserly Crows' back half, with Rutten named at fullback, Graham Johncock in the back pocket and Andrew McLeod on the half back flank.

Interestingly, Fremantle skipper Matthew Pavlich has been named at centre half-back while Matthew Richardson has again taken up residency on the wing as he has for the Tigers on occasion this season.

With Franklin at full forward, Cameron Mooney at centre half forward and Brett Burton and Leon Davis in the pockets, the Dream Team possesses a strong attacking structure.

Their six starting forwards have booted 124 goals between them in the last seven rounds – and that doesn't include renowned goal-kickers’ Pavlich, Richardson and Mathew Stokes contribution of 61.

The combined state and territory side has chosen to name three emergencies, with Nathan Bassett, Daniel Cross and Corey Enright missing out on starting positions.

Luke McPharlin and Irishman Tadhg Kennelly, who both sat out Dream Team training on Wednesday, are out of contention with injury.

The Dream Team has named Nathan Bock, Jamie Charman, Joel Corey, Brett Kirk, Ryan Griffen, Darren Glass and Stokes on the bench.
