The Geelong Football Club wishes to advise that the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and notification of the results of the 2010 Board Election have been rescheduled from Monday 20 December 2010 to Monday 17 January 2011.

The change of AGM date has become necessary due to the Club recently identifying that 8%(or 2,329) of all eligible Geelong Cats Members had not received their Election ballot papers.

This situation has been caused by an administration error by the AFL and the Geelong Cats whereby a specific category of Cats AFL Club Supporter Members, were not included in the database from which the original ballot papers were generated and sent to Members on 1 December 2010.

Once the Club became aware of this situation, the AFL and Computershare (the organisation engaged to conduct the Election) were immediately notified.

The Election’s independent Returning Officer has approved the Club’s request to extend the Board Election voting period for all eligible Members to 5pm on Friday 14 January 2011.

Ballot papers will be sent to the affected Cats AFL Supporter Members on 17 December 2010, and all Geelong Cats Members will be notified of the extended voting deadline by post.

The 10 Candidates for the Board Election have also been notified about the extended voting deadline and the reasons for the extension.

The results of the Election will be announced at the new AGM date of 17 January 2011.

The Club wishes to apologise to the Election Candidates and Members for any inconvenience which may have been caused.

The Club is committed to ensuring that all eligible Cats Members have an opportunity to participate in their Board Election, and has taken the proactive steps necessary to ensure that this occurs.
