Adam Goodes will miss the Sydney Swans match against Collingwood on July 5th after accepting the one match suspension offered by the AFL Match Review Panel.

The Match Review Panel assessed Goodes’ incident as follows:

Adam Goodes, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a Level One engaging in rough conduct offence against Clint Bartram, Melbourne, during the second quarter of the Round 13 match between the Sydney Swans and Melbourne, played at Manuka Oval on Sunday June 22, 2008.

In summary, his existing carry-over points from within the last 12 months means that his penalty cannot be reduced from a one-match sanction, even with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has 93.75 points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 218.75 points and a two-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 164.06 points and a one-match sanction
