1. Brainstorming Bowden
Richmond star Joel Bowden must be running out of ways to win his side a game, surely? From game-saving marks, to rushing behinds, to kicking goals at the death … is there anything Richmond hero Joel Bowden can’t do to win his side a match?

Bowden was at it again on Saturday, this time steering one home with less than 30 seconds left against the Brisbane Lions as he helped the Tigers keep their finals chances alive.

So, while there will be lap-running and a few kicks and handpasses down at Punt Road this week, a large portion of the group’s main session will be devoted to ‘Joel’s Winning Ways –How Bowds Can Do it Again’.

Suggestions so far for the Tiger hero against Geelong this week so far include pulling former teammate Brad Ottens’ shorts down and also distracting Max Rooke by calling him Jared throughout the match.

2. Porpoise – noun, meaning brave, skilful and dangerous
Okay, the Macquarie dictionary might actually say something about “any of the gregarious cetaceans constituting the genus Phocaena”, but that’s not what we’re talking about here.

We’re talking the Adelaide Crows variety – the Jason Porplyzia kind – who shrugged off his shoulder concerns despite popping his dodgy joint early in the match to lead his team to an upset win over the Sydney Swans on Saturday night.

Crows coach Neil Craig was happy to sing his star forward’s praises.

3. Millsy is Wicked
So it was Rob “Millsy” Mills that stood out over the thousands of Hawk fans screaming “baaaaaall!” every time a Geelong player was touched on Friday night?

While many Hawks, perhaps even including coach Alastair Clarkson, had the sound of the typical irate footy fan in their pleas for a free, there was the faint sound of a few holding their tone and pitch a little longer.

It turns out Millsy is quite the fan of the brown and gold and he tried to drag a few of his Wicked mates off to see Buddy at the weekend.

And who knows? It could have been a different story for Millsy. Now Idolised for his exploits with the microphone, the man with the golden tonsils might have taken a different path had those at a TAC Cup club not overlooked his talents on the field.

4. Tough run … for some
A quick look at the ‘run home’ for the remainder of the 2008 AFL season shows just what the sides in contention for the top eight have ahead of them.

For a side like the Cats, sitting high and mighty on their perch, few opposition teams would strike fear into them.

Not included on our run home chart, however, is the Demons' run. When you’re 16th on the table and looking up at every other side things can look a little tough.
