It was another big week at Whitten Oval this week, with a mass of media out the front at all hours early in the week waiting for the Club’s announcement regarding Jason Akermanis.

Late Tuesday afternoon it was great that the announcement could be made, that all parties had come to an agreement and that the situation could finally be closed and full attention and effort given to this weekend’s clash against the inform Magpies. To read the club statement click here.

Last weekend the Club created history with our inaugural Hall of Fame dinner at Crown Palladium. The night was a great success with over 1300 guests in attendance including many key figures from the Clubs past and present.

Throughout the night a select group of past players were celebrated with induction into the Footscray/Western Bulldogs Hall of Fame. One of the highlights was the induction of our only VFL Premiership Captain, Charlie Sutton as a Club Legend. Sutton’s presence on stage drew the crowd to their feet in awe and admiration and his words and passion for the Club were truly inspirational.

After a disappointing performance against Essendon in Round 10 the Dogs will be fighting to get another win on the board come Sunday when they meet the Magpies at Etihad Stadium.

Collingwood currently hold third place on the ladder and the Dogs trail in fifth, however if we can draw on some of that inspiration from last Saturday night's Hall of Fame and take home the win then both teams will be even with a 7:4 win/loss ratio.

The last time we met was Round 1 this year which also marked skipper Brad Johnson’s 350th AFL/Club game. On this occasion his moment was soured from the first siren, as Collingwood took control of the game and managed to hold the lead at every break.
