GOLD Coast joint vice-captain Tom Lynch is the new leader of the AFL Coaches Association player of the year award.
Lynch polled six votes after kicking four goals in the 38-point loss to North Melbourne on Saturday.
He is sitting on 34 votes, with Sydney Swans midfielder Luke Parker and Melbourne tough nut equal-second on 31.
The Swans' club champion in 2014, Parker is also sitting atop the leaderboard in Brownlow medal-style voting conducted by AFL.com.au reporters.
Parker garnered two votes in the 39-point win against West Coast on Saturday afternoon.
The coaches gave Viney nine votes after he was instrumental in leading the Demons to a 33-point win against Richmond on Sunday night.
EVERY round, the AFL coaches vote for the best players from their game. The coaches vote for five players, giving them a mark from 1-5.
The maximum a player can score is 10 (with 5 votes from both coaches).
