The weather forecast was certainly not a great one but that didn’t stop thousands of Carlton supporters attending the Hyundai Blues Family Day at Visy Park on Sunday. Thankfully the weather held off for the activities and it was fitting that the sun shone as the 2010 Carlton team was introduced to the crowd.

Supporters had the chance to meet all the Carlton players at the Family Day as well as enjoy a number of free activities, sample products from the Carlton sponsors and take home gifts from a number of Carlton sponsors including Hyundai, Mars, Visy and TeleChoice.

A real highlight for Carlton supporters was the opportunity to walk through the new training facilities at Visy Park. Thousands took advantage of the opportunity to see first-hand the sensational new facilities. The most popular area of the building was not the players’ warm up area but the Premiership Cup display in reception.

This is an area that all visitors to Visy Park will be able to see during business hours and there was no shortage of supporters having their photo taken in front of the display, featuring the 16 AFL Premiership Cups won by the Carlton Football Club during the 20th Century.

Of course the presentation of players is always a highlight at Family Day. President Stephen Kernahan welcomed everyone to the day and said we should all be very proud of the group of young men that will represent Carlton in 2010. He thanked the supporters and sponsors for their support and encouraged supporters to become members in 2010 to ensure the Club continues to grow off the field.

Coach Brett Ratten then said he was looking forward to the start of the season and thanked all the supporters for their wonderful support. He then remained on stage and handed each player their 2010 guernsey, starting with number 47 Josh Donaldson. The presentation went in guernsey number order, highest to lowest, with the Captain Chris Judd being presented last. For his and Marc Murphy’s presentation the crowd got involved with thousands holding up their Judd or Murphy face mask as the player was introduced.

For 15 members the best was yet to come. These were lucky winners of the pre-Christmas competition. All members who purchased a 2010 membership prior to December 11th were in the draw to have their membership pack presented to them by a player. The 15 winners didn’t just have their membership pack presented to them by a player, they had all the players on hand in the warm up area of the new facility, to have their membership pack presented by one of the players. It was a huge thrill for these lucky winners.
