The Lions will be without key players Ash McGrath and Mitch Clark for this Saturday night’s match against the Western Bulldogs after both players accepted their one match bans handed down by the AFL Match Review Panel.

Clark was charged with a Level Three striking offence against Port Adelaide’s Jackson Trengove during the first quarter of last Saturday’s match against the Power at AAMI Stadium.

The incident was assessed as intentional contact (three points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This total of six activation points resulted in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two match sanction.

With no existing good or bad record, an early guilty plea reduced Clark’s sanction by 25% to 168.75 points and a one match suspension.

McGrath was charged with a Level Two misconduct offence in that he made unreasonable and unnecessary contact to the face of Port Adelaide’s Cameron Cloke during the third quarter of last Saturday’s match against the Power at AAMI Stadium.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This total of five activation points resulted in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two match sanction.
