A MEMBER of Port Adelaide’s senior executive team has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Glenelg Football Club.

Rob Nelson, the Power’s Marketing and Consumer Business Manager, will take up the role with Glenelg in July.

Nelson joined the Power 18 months ago from the SANFL, where he was General Manager, Partnerships and Strategy.

Port Adelaide Chief Executive Mark Haysman has welcomed the appointment.

“This is a rare and exciting career opportunity for Rob,” Haysman said.

“Rob grew up supporting the Bays and he now has the opportunity to lead a multi-faceted business with not only a focus on football but also significant commercial projects such as the further development of Gliderol Stadium and the gaming and hospitality arms of the club.

“We wish him all the best and thank him sincerely for his work at Port Adelaide over the last 18 months.”

Prior to his role with the SANFL Nelson held senior executive positions in Surf Lifesaving, Sydney Olympics, Australian Major Events and Rugby Union. He also holds a bachelor of business in Sport Management from Victoria’s Deakin University.
