For the man of the moment, the picture is not quite as clear.
"To be honest, it was a little bit of a blur, I can't really remember," Franklin said, after clinching the Coleman Medal with 4.5 against Carlton at Telstra Dome on Saturday.
"Once I kicked the goal, everyone ran on.
"I remember coming back in [the rooms], sitting with the trainers, just talking with them, which was good."
If the 21-year-old was worried about getting crushed in the ground invasion that followed his ton, he needn't have been – his forward line sidekick Jarryd Roughead was there to help out.
"It was under control - 'Roughy' was blocking them, which was good. I will have to thank him, he's a big boy," Franklin said.
After spending 10 minutes in the rooms while the ground was cleared, Buddy returned up the race to another raucous reception.
"It was really exciting, it's a good part of the game, to kick a 100 and then run back on in front of everyone - really exciting," he said.
"It was good to get it out of the way in the first quarter and just worry about getting the win."
In keeping with Hawthorn’s reluctance to dwell on individual efforts in 2008, the forward was more willing to talk about the team's performance post-match.
"Today was a good win, it was pleasing for us, but we're just looking forward to next week's game against the Bulldogs, which is going to be really exciting for the team," he said.
He confirmed his last-quarter benching wasn't a slight on the form he was showing in the intense game.
"I was a bit buggered in the end, it was a long night. It was good to come off in the end.”
After the siren, Franklin embraced rival spearhead Brendan Fevola, whose night ended in heartbreak – one short of his own goalkicking ton.
"It would have been great for 'Fev' to get the 100 too, with the two of us it would have made history," Franklin said.
"To land on 99 and not kick the 100, you'd be a little bit disappointed."
