The Sydney Swans’ Melbourne office held their annual Ladies Lunch on Friday at Federation Square’s Zinc.

With a great view and blue-skies overhead, around 300 people turned up for the two-course lunch hosted by Melbourne’s Gold FM duo Grubby and Deedee.

Amon Buchanan was a special guest and he was joined by recently inducted Hall of Fame members’ Billy Williams, Fred Goldsmith and Peter Bedford. They all proved very popular with the ladies in the room and were entertaining when interviewed on stage.

Appropriate given it was the Ladies Lunch, recent netball premiership player for the Vixen’s Renee Hallinan was interviewed on stage and she talked about her team success as well as the rise of profile for her chosen sport.

Former Swan and now part-time musician, Luke Brennan, performed a number of hits for the guests. He firstly played the famous Mrs. Robinson and I’m Yours by Jason Mraz, that was with guitar in hand. He then closed the lunch with two more hits, this time sitting behind the keyboard and playing Elton John’s Tiny Dancer and Billy Joel’s Piano Man among other songs.

There was a signed Michael O’Loughlin banner auctioned off that went for more than $1500, everyone is chasing their piece of Magic memorabilia it seems.

A number of player mums were also at the lunch including Jude Bolton’s mother Rosalie, Loretta Cook (mother of Nick Malceski), Joanne Richards, Rhonda Moore, Geraldine Hannebery, Bernadette Currie, Lynne O’Keefe, Judy Crouch, Robyn Barlow, Kereen Smith, Michelle Laidlaw, Jenny Veszpremi, Keryn Gilchrist, Wendy White,  and a special mention was given to Ed Barlow’s grandma!

Pamper stations and massages were able to be enjoyed throughout the lunch and everyone left with a great gift bag.

“We love hosting a Ladies Lunch in Melbourne, our supporters (specifically the ladies) always enjoy the opportunity to be entertained by regular host Grubby & Deedee and the interaction with current players and past legends makes it a day not to be missed on the event calendar,”  Melbourne Manager Tony Morwood said.
