On Tuesday of this week the Club emailed a Media Release to members informing them of the Coalition’s election commitment of $36 million to the Stage 3 redevelopment of Skilled Stadium. The Club welcomed this news.

Since the Media Release, the Club has received criticism from some members who have suggested that the Media Release was aimed at supporting and influencing its members to vote for the Coalition at the upcoming Federal election. This is not true. The Club wishes to advise that this was in no way the intent of the Media Release, and it apologises to anyone that may have viewed our actions as an attempt to influence their vote.

Over the past 10 years the Club has enjoyed an excellent relationship with the State and Federal Governments and the past and present local Members of Parliament. We furthermore acknowledge their support and assistance in securing funding for the Stage 1 and Stage 2 redevelopments of Skilled Stadium.

Looking to the future, the proposed Stage 3 redevelopment will further enhance the benefits that Skilled Stadium provides to the Geelong and regional community. The project has been strongly supported by the major party candidates in the upcoming Federal election, these being in the seat of Corio (Richard Marles and Don Gibson) and the seat of Corangamite (Sarah Henderson and Darren Cheeseman).

Yours sincerely,
