TAYLOR Adams says he "was caught up in the moment" when he kneed Port Adelaide's Justin Westhoff in the head on Thursday night.
And Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury believes the young midfielder will accept whatever punishment comes his way for the nasty incident.
The third-quarter encounter, in which Adams dropped his right knee into Westhoff's head while the Power forward lay on the turf, was a blight on the midfielder's 38-possession game.

He now faces a nervous wait before the Match Review Panel hands down its findings on Monday.
Adams didn't have much to say when he arrived back in Melbourne on Friday with the majority of the Collingwood team but said the incident happened in the heat of the moment.
"I'll deal with it when it comes around," Adams said.
"I was caught up in the moment, playing the game."
Coach Nathan Buckley said after the game he didn't see what happened to cause the Power players to remonstrate with Adams, and made the parochial home crowd turn on him.
"I didn't see it and I can tell you that hand on heart," he said.
But Pendlebury said the players had found it hard to avoid.
"It was hard not to [see it], I think Port put it on the big screen about 15 times," the Pies skipper said at the airport on Friday.
"It is what it is and I'm sure Tay will cop whatever comes his way if something comes his way."
