Speaking to SEN 1116 radio’s Andy Maher, Tim Watson and Andrew Gaze on Tuesday morning, Scott said he won’t be taking the forward lightly despite his long lay-off after facial fractures and surgery.
“He’ll want to pick that side up and carry them on his shoulders and really carry them to a win that’s for sure,” Scott said.
“I heard his comments about us potentially targeting him and I can assure him that we don’t recruit idiots, so no one will be targeting him that’s for sure.”
Earlier in the week, Brown joked the Roos might come off second best if push comes to shove at the GABBA.
“I’ve been asked if they’ll target me, so I’m not sure what they’ll do. I’ve got plenty of metal in my face so they might have a sore fist by the end of it if they try and whack me,” he said.
“I feel good about going back out there and I’ve felt good about being in training drills with the boys. I think when the game starts, training starts, you forget about things. Hopefully I’ll go out there and play the footy I’ve always played in the past.
Brown has shown an ability to play at his best regardless of time out of the game in the past and that’s what concerns Scott the most.
“We’ve really tried to develop a back six that can play on all different types; play on talls or smalls. That being said, I think that Browny at his best…I don’t think there are too many defenders in the competition that can say with any confidence that they could beat him consistently, so were going to have to come up with a pretty good strategy to take care of him and he’s a rare player and as a coach you probably need plan A, B and C depending on how he’s going on the day.”
