Franklin, 21, won the Peter Crimmins Medal by 39 votes from skipper Sam Mitchell, adding the award to his premiership medal, the Coleman Medal for topping the league’s goalkicking, and his spot in the All-Australian side.
Inspirational vice-captain Luke Hodge took third spot in the Hawks’ count, in front of a crowd of 1,300 at Crown Palladium.
Franklin polled in 24 of his 25 games, with his best performances coming in round five against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba, round 11 against Essendon, round 18 against Collingwood and the second qualifying final against the Western Bulldogs.
In other awards on the night, Hodge received the gong for best player in the finals, electric forward Cyril Rioli was named the club's best first year player and defender Tom Murphy secured the most improved award.
