The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has assessed the following incidents from the weekend's round of matches.

Charges Laid:

Aaron Fiora, St Kilda, has been charged with a level two striking offence against John McCarthy, Collingwood, during the second quarter of the Round 19 match between St Kilda and Collingwood, played at the MCG on  Saturday August 9, 2008.

In summary, his existing carry-over points from within the last 12 months means that his one-game sanction cannot be reduced, even with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has 45 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 170 demerit points and a one-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 127.50 points and a one-match sanction.

Other Incidents Assessed:

Contact between Melbourne's Lynden Dunn and Geelong's Steve Johnson from the fourth quarter of Friday's match was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Dunn's action was a push and not a striking motion. No further action was taken.

Contact between the Western Bulldogs' Robert Murphy and North Melbourne's Brady Rawlings from the third quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. Murphy's action was deemed to be a legitimate attempt to spoil. No further action was taken.
