The Magpies boast the best offense and defence in the league, kicking 1664 points while only conceding 924 points after 14 games.
The club’s 1902 premiership side holds the record for the highest percentage at the end of the home and away season with 199.5% and an undefeated record (15 wins).
Since the inception of the AFL in 1990, West Coast holds the record for the best percentage with 162.2% in 1991 and Geelong sits next best for its 2008 efforts (161.8%). Interesting to note that both minor premiers lost their grand finals.
In the 2000s, the Bombers finished the 2000 season with 159.1% while St Kilda’s 2009 side finished the season with 155.7%.
Collingwood’s 15th premiership saw the side finish with 141.68%, their highest total since 1966 (157.2%).
Collingwood inflicted its first 100-point plus winning margin of the season on Sunday against North Melbourne and has now scored over the ton mark 12 times this year.
The back six conceded the fewest points of any AFL game this season on Sunday with the Kangaroos’ attack managing a paltry 30 points. The Magpie defence is allowing a league-low average of 66 points kicked against.
Collingwood has recorded the top percentage at the end of the home and away season 19 times since 1897.
The Magpies need to kick 837 points or average 105 points in its last eight games to score its single-season highest total in history to surpass the 1980 side’s 2501 total points (126.7%).
