GOLD Coast is still sweating on the fitness of Jared Brennan and Tom Murphy after both players were concussed during Sunday's 60-point win over Melbourne.

Brennan was on the receiving end of a Colin Sylvia elbow that earned the Demons midfielder a three-week suspension, while Murphy clashed heads with teenager Jack Viney.

Both players were stretchered off and did not return.

Assistant coach Mark Riley confirmed on Wednesday the pair was still having medical tests to assess their availability for Saturday's home match against the Western Bulldogs.

"That's in the doctor's hands with concussion so he'll do the normal testing procedure and if they comes through that they'll be right to play," Riley said.

"If not, there's a window of opportunity for someone else."

Aside from the health of Brennan and Murphy, ruckman Charlie Dixon is the major concern ahead of the Bulldogs match.

Dixon missed last week with an ankle injury and is still in a moon boot.

He didn't participate in the team's main training session on Wednesday, and Riley said despite the big man's recuperative powers, he expected him to be an absentee.

The Suns created history on Sunday, with the win over the Demons their first ever in Melbourne, and will be out to create more against the Bulldogs.

A win would be their first back-to-back victories and take them to a credible 4-4 record after eight rounds.

"We had a very good win here (Metricon Stadium) in round one and have been quite disappointing in our next few outings," Riley said.

"We want to build this up as a bit of a fortress but we've let ourselves down against Fremantle and Port but we can't go backwards.

"The Doggies are not going that bad. Like a lot of young teams they were very competitive (against North Melbourne) for three and a bit quarters and just couldn't quite sustain it."
