CARLTON believes its recent NAB Cup grand final win over the Brisbane Lions is irrelevant heading into Saturday night's round five clash.

But the Blues would dearly love to take their ability to win at Telstra Dome during the summer into the season proper, having lost nine of their past 10 games at one of their home grounds.

Carlton midfielder Andrew Carrazzo said while both sides could adopt some of the match-ups on display during the pre-season decider, which the Blues won six weeks ago, Saturday night would be different.

"There's a different intensity from that sort of the game and the real deal," he said.

"Four points is on the line during the season so that steps it up another notch."

Having experienced first-hand the edge West Coast gains at Subiaco Oval last week, Carlton is keen to create a better winning record at Telstra Dome, where the Blues play six home games in 2007.

"This is our home and this is where we play our home games, so we've got to make it a bit of a fortress for teams to come here and play," Carrazzo said.

"We haven't done that lately but we're looking forward to changing that."
