Richmond’s VFL affiliate, the Coburg Tigers, have appointed Adam Potter as their new senior coach for the next two seasons.

Coburg’s coach for the 2010 season, David Newett, has moved into a full-time development position at Richmond.

Potter has developed a strong coaching CV over recent seasons.  He was an assistant coach at Coburg to Andy Collins, Jade Rawlings and Craig McRae, and coached the club’s reserve-grade team to the 2007 premiership.

In 2010, Adam took on the reserves and development coaching role at Williamstown.  He had instant success, guiding the reserves into the Grand Final.

“Adam has impressed the club with his enthusiasm throughout the interview process and is greatly looking forward to his return to the Burgers,” said Coburg’s General Manager, Lee Fraser.

“Adam has a proven ability to meet specific criteria for coaching a senior VFL team, including a strong understanding of the VFL program and the nature of alignments, proven ability to develop young footballers, understanding of the culture of the Coburg Football Club, a strong desire to succeed, and proven history of success.”

Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron, said the Club fully endorsed Coburg’s coaching appointment.

“We congratulate Adam on his new role, and the Club will maintain a strong alignment to the Coburg Tigers in 2011 . . .

“With the continued growth of our coaching structure, David (Newett) will become a full-time development coach from next season.”
