LUKE Hodge will meet with his surgeon again on Wednesday, with a return against Adelaide in round five looming as the most likely scenario.
The Hawthorn skipper is back training with the main group, using a guard to protect his broken arm.
"See the surgeon today as a follow up, it's two weeks as of yesterday, and then go through and he ticks the boxes and find out how much longer I've got to wait," Hodge told AFL.com.au.
The 31-year-old fractured his arm in the Hawks' opening-round loss to Geelong.
Hodge wouldn't completely rule out a shock return against St Kilda in Launceston this week, but it appears a week later on Friday night against the Crows is a more realistic proposition.
"If you ask any player, I think you've got to say you hope you're a chance," Hodge said.
"It's down to the medical staff and what they say; as long as the function's good you can train."
"(I'll) probably know a bit more later in the week."
Teammate Jarryd Roughead said he remained on track for "a mid-year return" from knee surgery.
"I started running last week, but still just got to build up from now," he said.
The injured Hawks duo was competing against each other on Wednesday morning in Melbourne selling tickets for the 2016 Toyota Good for Footy Raffle.
The program allows local footy clubs to raise much-needed funds for equipment and facilities.
