A number of former Cats have found new homes in the VFL and will face Geelong during 2007.
Nick Batchelor and Tim Sheringham have headed up Geelong Road to Werribee, while Paul Koulouriotis and Cameron Thurley moved across Bass Straight and will line up for Tasmania.
Batchelor played one NAB Cup game last season before a hamstring injury put him out for eight weeks. He and Sheringham helped the Cats to the VFL grand final and both played against Port Adelaide in the exhibition match at The Oval last October.
Koulouriotis played 18 games in three seasons with the Cats, including three finals in 2004. He played just one senior game last season but was one of the VFL’s leading players.
Thurley played seven games in 2005 before crossing to the Kangaroos where he played five times last year.
Kent Kingsley has moved onto Richmond, but with the former Cat full forward suffering a long term injury, it’s likely he will log some time at Coburg as he seeks match fitness.
Full forward Matthew McCarthy will line up in the VAFA with Old Xav’s.
Geelong will face Werribee in round nine of the VFL season at Skilled Stadium and round 19 away, while Tasmania host Geelong in round two and head to Skilled Stadium for round 10.
