A FRUSTRATED Rodney Eade said Gold Coast could play much better after fiddling with the ball and failing to follow instructions in Saturday's QClash win over the Brisbane Lions.

Despite notching just his third win of 2015, the Suns coach was largely disappointed in the 14-point victory.

Eade said 10 to 12 players were below par and Gold Coast was lucky to escape.

"I think we can play so much better," Eade said.

"I was disappointed in some individuals, really.

"We fiddled and farted around with the ball, went backwards, sideways, trying to create perfect opportunities.

"Normally when you have 10 or 12 that don't play well, you probably lose.

"The guys who didn't play well hung in there and the other blokes lifted, which was good."

Tom Lynch kicked five goals, Aaron Hall had 28 disposals and Jesse Lonergan curbed the influence of Lions skipper Tom Rockliff.

All three received praise from Eade, particularly Hall, who has revived his spluttering career in the past fortnight with two superb showings in the midfield.

The Suns were outplayed in many facets of the game, losing the disposal count 423-290 and the inside 50s 53-43.

Eade said Gold Coast lifted when they needed to and applied more pressure in the game-breaking seven-goals-to-four third quarter.

However, Eade was far more irritated than he'd been after any number of the Suns' losses this year.

"Even when we've lost I've been really thrilled with guys taking steps forward," he said.

"I thought tonight, what we showed in the first quarter and the first 10 minutes of the third quarter, to be able to relax on the back of that, fiddle with the ball and not play to instructions is disappointing.

"Guys that are young, they can't take things for granted because they play well for three weeks, that it's going to turn up in the fourth week.

"I was pleased we were able to win with so many players that didn't contribute."
