THE NAB League Girls Grand Final on Friday night at Werribee features two star-studded sides with a number of players who have had fantastic season and are likely to feature prominently in the next NAB AFLW Draft.
Dandenong Stingrays and Western Jets have both had outstanding campaigns and meet in the competition decider under lights at Avalon Airport Oval at 7:10pm. The match will be live streamed free via the NAB League App, thanks to Telstra.
Below are some of the names fans and recruiters should keep an eye out for on Friday night:
DANDENONG STINGRAYS
#4 – Olivia Robinson: Mid/Fwd
Has shown an ability to win the ball at the contest while also hitting the scoreboard when up forward.
#5 – Mackenzie Eardley: Key Back
Has led the team brilliantly all year as co-captain, reads the play well with a strong set of hands. Penetrating kick out of the back half.
#6 – Amber Clarke: Fwd/Mid
With blistering speed and power at the contest, Amber has been able to impact games both up forward and around the ball.
#11 – Emily Shepherd: Fwd
A clever forward who can find time and space where others can’t. A five-goal haul in round 10 reminded the competition what she can produce.
#13 – Taylah Gatt: Wing
With breakneck speed, Taylah has been a key player in linking the Stingrays from defense to attack.
#14 – Felicity Crank: Mid
Co-captain with Mackenzie Eardley, Flik has led from the front with her strong attack on the ball. Has shown to also have a few tricks up forward, highlighted by her match winning goal from the boundary against Eastern in Round Six
WESTERN JETS
#38 – Montana Ham
Powerful midfielder who is also strong overhead. A consistent season has her as one of the competition leaders for clearances and inside 50s.
#1 – Charlotte Baskaran
A classy quick and balanced midfielder. Western Jets and Vic Metro captain. An instrumental part of the Jets girls’ rise in 2022.
#17 – Lou-Lou Field
A naturally talented sportswoman who plays with composure and maturity beyond her years. Provides rebound off half back.
#8 – Paige Ryan
Outside midfielder with a balanced kick that can break the lines with her run and carry.
#11 – Stephanie Asciak
Combative midfielder who consistently gathers possessions, but just as importantly provides defensive pressure with her strong tackling.
#27 – Caitlin Sargent
Mobile forward who is a marking target and dangerous at ground level. Creative inside 50 with a goal sense that has her a leader in the competition goalkicking.
