KEY NORTH Melbourne defender Josh Gibson faces two to three weeks on the sidelines after scans yesterday confirmed he had torn cartlidge in his knee.

The club said the torn medial cartilage in his left knee.would require arthroscopic surgery later in the week.

Gibson was in top form at the MCG on Saturday opposed to Melbourne's Russell Robertson until he went down in the third term.

The 24-year-old was elevated off the rookie list in 2005 but his career really took off in the first half of last season.

Unfortunately, he missed the latter half of the 2007 season with a serious head injury sustained when he slipped in his bathroom.

But Gibson made a brave comeback in time for the finals and his performance on Lance Franklin was instrumental in the Kangaroos semi-final victory.
