As a regular part of PortAdelaideFC.com.au, we will be featuring a member who has recently signed up for the 2008 season.
First up, is Barry Forrest, who last week became a Platinum Member for the first time. We caught up with Barry to hear what it’s like to become a Power member and his thoughts on the coming season.
POWER MEMBER OF THE WEEK: Barry Forrest
PAFC: Barry, you’re a Platinum Member for the first time in 2008, what made you join up this year?
Barry: I actually had previously had a membership with the Power a few years ago and then dropped that membership and then re-joined this year with the full membership. I just wanted to get behind the team and I’d felt pretty bad over the past couple of years having not been a member so really wanted to show that support and get into it this year.
You’ve been to some games in the past then, what do you enjoy about going to the footy?
Yes, I’ve been to quite a few. I enjoy catching up with friends. There’s a group of us that catch up and watch the game and then generally go back to the club afterwards and have a bit of a chinwag about what’s going on, which is good fun.
So how do you think the Power will go this year?
Look I think they’ll definitely be competitive. I probably suggest they’d definitely be in the top 5. At this stage things are looking pretty positive. Hopefully they’ve pulled a bit out of last year and really use that in a positive way this year.
Do you have a favourite player?
Yeah, it’d have to be Dean Brogan to be honest. I just like him as a player. He’s a bit of a team lifter as well. When he’s on track I reckon the guys really look up to him.
He’s pretty important to the team winning too.
Yeah he is, it’s his physical presence as well which really helps. It gives the other guys a bit of confidence I reckon.
Where are you seats, do you know what area you’re in with the new changes to the seating?
Yeah we’re in the premium section of the outer, fairly close to the centre I think.
Sounds like you’ll be in the new Game Day Members’ Enclosure then. It’s going to have gates this year to restrict access to just our Game Day Members as a reward for those who commit to that area for the season.
Yeah I heard that, that will be really good actually, I’m looking forward to it, and taking the little boy (three-year-old Mitchell) along too.
Do you have a message for Power fans who haven’t joined as members yet?
I think everyone has to be positive about the year. I really think the guys can make the most of what happened last year in a positive way and really get into this year and get off to a good start.
Come back next week to see who the next Power Member of the Week is.
