Player Development Coach Steve Malaxos reviews the performances of Fremantle players who played in the WAFL at the weekend.
Dean Solomon (Perth) Possessions: 10 kicks, 11 handpasses, 5 marks, 4 hit outs.
Malaxos says: Dean played on the ball and up forward. He was one of their better players. He worked well at stoppages and performed well in difficult circumstances.
Darren Rumble (Subiaco) Possessions: 5 kicks, 4 handpasses, 1 mark.
Malaxos says: It was Darren’s first game in the seniors for a number of weeks after recovering from a hamstring injury. He had a solid performance.
Paul Hasleby (East Fremantle) Possessions: Statistics unavailable.
Malaxos says: Paul played very well on the ball and up forward where he used his marking to good affect. He kicked four goals and was named the Sharks’ best on ground.
Garrick Ibbotson (East Fremantle) Possessions: Statistics unavailable
Malaxos says: Garrick did some good things early. He didn’t have a lot of game time in the second and third quarters. He had a really good last quarter.
Steven Dodd (East Fremantle) Possessions: Statistics unavailable
Malaxos says: Steven played on Anthony Tsalikis, mostly deep in defence. He did his role pretty well in a solid defensive effort.
Brett Peake (East Fremantle) Possessions: Statistics unavailable
Malaxos says: Brett got a bit of the ball on half forward, on the ball and at half back but did not have his strongest game.
Chris Smith (Swan Districts) Possessions: 16 kicks, 2 handpasses, 4 marks.
Malaxos says: Chris was slow to start but was very good in the second half where he used his speed to very good affect.
Shane Parker (Subiaco Reserves)
Malaxos says: Shane played his comeback game after overcoming a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. He played a solid game and will be available for Subiaco in their league line up in the finals.
Calib Mourish (East Fremantle Reserves)
Malaxos says: Calib kicked five goals and was in their best players. It was probably his best game in the 2s for the season.
Benet Copping (East Perth Reserves)
Malaxos says: Benet played on the ball and the wing. He was in their best players so he will be in their final squad this week for the first week of the WAFL finals.
