The AFL National High Performance Coach will be responsible for assisting in the selection of AFL National Academy scholarship holders, and for assisting in the design and implementation of camp based programs that will develop talented athletes for careers in Australian Football.
The role will also involve assisting in the design and implementation of all camp based programs and strategies to enhance the education and training of coaches and players involved in the AFL National Academy.
Key Accountabilities/Outcomes
- Assist in designing, implementing and evaluating training programs for all AFL Academy (Level 2) Camps and have input into the AFL Academy Level 1 training program and camps
- Coach the Level 2 Academy team against state league team and on the International Tour
- Assist in the selection and mentoring of assistant coaches for AFL Academy
- Assist in National Talent Identification Courses and Combines
- Establish close contact with AFL Clubs around the latest coaching of the game at AFL level which can be implemented within the Academy programs
- Act as a member of the selection committee for the AFL National Academy Scholarship holders
- Liaise as required with the media to promote the NAB AFL National U18 Championships
- Attend NAB AFL U18 matches whenever possible
- Assist in meetings with NAB AFL National U18 coaches as required
- Liaise with AFL Club Recruiting Managers to discuss AFL Draft prospects
- Attend and provide expertise as required for skill sessions at Draft Combine.
