North Melbourne is on track to achieve a record membership in 2010 after launching its ‘New Game New Era’ campaign. A surge in sales during and after last Monday’s twilight training session pushed the number of members past the 7,000 mark which is 2,000 ahead of the same time last year.

“We would love to make 2010 the year we break our previous membership record set in 2008 of over 34,000. Back then it was all about survival and 2010 is all about our bright future. We’ve delivered on our promise to commit to the North Melbourne area and we want our loyal, passionate supporters to join up in numbers and help send a message to the rest of the league,” said chief executive Eugene Arocca.

“We want every person who signs up as a member in 2010 to be able to say - ‘I was there when the new North Melbourne stepped out of the past and into the future!’”

New senior coach Brad Scott has led the way with strong leadership and fresh direction.

“No one can deny that we’re entering an exciting phase of our 140 year history. Our future has never looked brighter and its now time to get behind the royal blue and white,” Arocca added.

“We think 10,000 members by Christmas is well within reach and we’d be elated if we can get there.”

There is just two months until the club’s first match for 2010 and all eyes will be on the development of North’s young list which boasts names like Jack Ziebell, Ben Cunnington, Andrew Swallow, Sam Wright, Ben Warren, Robbie Tarrant, Todd Goldstein and Levi Greenwood.

“I encourage all supporters to sign up now, support our young players and be a part of a 'New Game, New Era' at North Melbourne.”

North Melbourne's membership has just ticked over 9400 meaning the club requires just 600 members to reach its Christmas target.
