Indigenous Mentoring Field Officer

The Indigenous Mentoring Field Officer position is a mentoring role primarily concerned with achieving AFL SportsReady Indigenous Australian Apprenticeship sign up targets/objectives through marketing/promotion of AFL SportsReady’s Indigenous employment program to prospective employer’s/organisation’s, job seekers and the Indigenous community.

The Indigenous Mentoring Field Officer is responsible for sourcing Australian Apprenticeship opportunities targeting Indigenous communities, undertaking recruitment and selection activities, and the overall management of Indigenous Australian Apprentices including induction activities and regular performance monitoring.

A major part to ensure success with Indigenous Australian Apprentices is to provide, leadership, guidance and support through having a strong understanding of Indigenous communities.

In addition, the Indigenous Mentoring Field Officer is required to manage all Occupational Health and Safety requirements for both the Indigenous Australian Apprentices and host employer’s/organisations.

Employees will be expected to set outcomes and further develop work methods.

Requirements of the job include some or all of the following to perform at this level:
• knowledge of Indigenous communities and welfare
• demonstrated commitment to improving education and employment outcomes for Indigenous Australians
• experience of working with , Indigenous communities, preferably in the employment, education and training field

Salary: GTE Level 4 - plus 17.5% leave loading
Superannuation: 9% Employer Contribution.
Allowances: Use of a company motor vehicle and mobile phone as per AFL SportsReady’s policies
