Hey Ash, first of all congrats on the 6 goals against Gold Coast even though we went down. Personally I think we have looked better with youngsters McCauley and Polec in the team. How do you see the progress of the young blokes coming through?
Chris from Gladstone Park (VIC)
Thanks for that Chris. Broc does well when he comes in the side. He does even better when he opens up his eyes so he can see people coming and doesn’t run into them. Polec’s in his first year and he’ll get better the more seasons he gets under his belt.
Hey Ash, just wondering why you tell everyone to steer clear of Jack Redden.
Jess from Prospect (TAS)
I tell everyone to steer clear of Jack Redden because he’s such a nice bloke and sometimes he can chat your ears off and can get a bit annoying.
Hey Ash, great work on the weekend, the 4 points will come soon. I was just wondering if you listening to your iPod before a game or do you have a different routine. Also what do you think about when you line up for goal? Thanks GO LIONS
Cam from Greensborough (VIC)
Hi Cam, yeah I do like the iPod. I listen to all kinds of music and put it on shuffle and off I go. When I’m lining up for goal I’m just thinking “don’t miss” and just trying to aim the best I can and hopefully it goes through!
Do you think you can win the Coleman medal? On a more serious note, What do you think is the main reason for the Lions poor start to the season?
Harley Hingst from Annerley (QLD)
Probably won’t win the Coleman Medal Harley. I’m probably going to be down back this week. To answer your question about our start to the season, it’s mostly concentration errors that have cost us late.
Hi Ash, can you tell me how much Goose Maguire can bench press?
Steele from Carlton (VIC)
Well his nick name is ‘huff and puff’ Maguire because he acts big but he can't actually lift that much. He struggles on the bench press and I’d say the most he would do is probably 100kg. He loves a single leg squat so he could probably single leg squat 300kg. That’s where his strength lies.
Hi Ash, I don't really have a question, but I just wanted to let you guys know that we are your number ones supporters here in Benalla (besides Tommy Rockliff’s family!) and that we have taught our cockatiel to whistle the Brisbane Song. If you want him as a mascot let me know!!!
Ros Keogh from Benalla (VIC)
I’m actually starting to have a bit of a love affair with Benalla Ros, through Tommy Rockliff’s family. Especially his mum, she is a lovely lady. I’d like to say hello to everyone in Benalla!
What would you rather, Goal of the Year or Mark of the Year?
Luke from South Yarra (VIC)
Either one mate, you either win a car or win a heap of money so either one would be great.
Hi Ash, just wondering mate out of you Toby and Cory who was the most dominant backyard footy player and also who has been your toughest forward opponent to date?
Sean from Kingsley (WA)
Probably Toby and Cory were the same. They always dominated the backyard footy and I was so little that I just sat outside and waited for the loose ball. My toughest opponent to date would be a contest out of Ryan O’Keefe or Mark LeCras from West Coast.
I like many Lions fans were gutted after the loss, as I'm sure the players were, but the shining light was I must say were your goals Ash. They were fantastic, I suppose you'll get only be their via injury to keep the back line together? If not it would be great to see you there and you looked like you enjoyed yourself
Liam from Toowoomba (QLD)
It’s good to get down the forward line and kick some goals. You’re not always going to get down there and kick six in a half so it was a good surprise. But I see myself as a backline player and if Vossy needs me to go forward then I’ll go forward because I always enjoy kicking goals.
Who is the most fashion-orientated player?
Elena from Geelong (VIC)
Well Elena, if by ‘fashion-orientated’ you mean who dresses the most like a chick, then it would be the usual suspects Brent Staker and Joelly Patfull. They wear the tightest jeans possible and try to get their backsides looking a bit tighter than what they are.
Probably the worst at the Club is Bart McCulloch, who has one pair of shorts and three t-shirts and washes them a lot and just wears them all on rotation.
Hey Ash, I am just wondering how come you guys wore black arm bands against the Tigers? Also have you ever considered growing your hair back? GO LIONS!!!!!
Rebekah from Carindale (QLD)
We were wearing the armbands for our bootstudder Arthur who passed away a couple of weeks ago. He was with the Club for more than 50 years so it was very sad to see him go.
I would maybe consider growing my hair back, but the old receding hairline and the bald spot are looking a bit bad so I’ll have to weigh that one up.
Hey Ash, what plans have you made for a career after you retire from footy? And, who do you think will have the strangest career when they retire from the AFL?
Jackson from Toorak Gardens (SA)
My plan so far for when I retire is not to get too fat. I’ll probably do something around football but I’ll toss up whether to stay in Brisbane or move back to WA.
Bart McCulloch will probably have a strange career. The way he acts, I get a bit worried about him. He’s used to the structured life of the AFL, he’s a bit different. He needs people to watch over him a lot.
