WEST Coast veteran Darren Glass says he will be happy to relinquish the Eagles' captaincy this season if the club decides it has a suitable successor.
Glass, who has led the Eagles for the past five seasons, was named All Australian captain in 2012 and has enjoyed a strong preparation for his 14th season.
However, the 31-year-old said he would be prepared to hand over the captaincy to a younger player before his decorated career ends.
"I'm happy with whatever the club decides," Glass said on Wednesday.
"If they want me to continue I'm happy to do that, and if the timing is right for someone else, I'm happy with that as well."
All Australian defender Beau Waters, who was appointed sole vice-captain two years ago, is seen as Glass's likely successor, while 22-year-old club champion Scott Selwood is highly rated for his leadership.
Every year, West Coast players vote on a set criteria to determine who they would like to captain the club, with the final decision resting with coach John Worsfold and the club board.
The Eagles don't have a timeframe for when the players' vote will take place.
