The friendly rivalry between the Cincinnati Dockers and the Louisville Kings is as old and storied as Australian Football in the United States itself. Fifteen years ago, in September of 1996, a team of Australian Football enthusiasts from Cincinnati played against another team of enthusiasts from Louisville, led by their late founder, John Harrell, in what was the first ever match of the game to be contested between two US-based clubs.
This Saturday, the Cincinnati Dockers and the Kings will once again take the field and continue to add to the history of this rivalry, with the trophy named after the founder of the Louisville Football Club at stake.
The Cincinnati Dockers are an Australian Rules Football club based out of Fairfield, Ohio. Established in 1996, they are the oldest clubs of their kind in the United States.
The Cincinnati Dockers have won a total of four USAFL National Championships in their history. The Cincinnati Dockers are an official partner club of the Fremantle Dockers.
