MELBOURNEfc and Sustainability Victoria, in conjunction with Szencorp, Green Mail and The Age, have entered into an Environmental Alliance to deliver vital environmental messages to children and schools.

The MELBOURNEfc Environmental Alliance, in partnership with Faber-Castell, will involve a two month education campaign engaging over 100 schools and 30,000 children, teachers, and parents. Primary Schools taking part in the program will be involved through competitions, information packs, player school visits, football clinics, and various other school activities.

Key themes, under the banner Kick a Goal for Climate Change, include:

  1. issues around climate change
  2. reducing everyday energy and water consumption
  3. to reduce green house gas emissions
  4. environmental building practices
  5. saving energy around the home and school.

The launching of this alliance coincides with World Environment Day and MELBOURNEfc’s Round 10 match against Adelaide last Saturday on 2nd June. Sustainability Victoria delivered an address on football and climate change issues as MELBOURNEfc’s Community Partner for the day.

This ground-breaking initiative draws on key strengths of different industries to help build a complementary partnership which will send a comprehensive and effective message to the children of Victoria.

MELBOURNEfc sees Climate Change as one of the key factors affecting our community in the coming years and have taken this leadership position to help increase the educational awareness for environmental sustainability.
