NINE players from the Sydney Swans and Adelaide are among the 22 receiving the most votes from fans picking their Virgin Australia AFL All Australian team.
And supporters have listed Brownlow Medal favourite Patrick Dangerfield as their preferred captain, with Adelaide’s Rory Sloane as his deputy.
A mock 22 compiled from fans’ voting as of Thursday morning includes five Swans and four Crows and two players each from Geelong, Hawthorn and Richmond. The best-of team does not, to date, include representatives from the Brisbane Lions, Collingwood, Essendon, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide and St Kilda.
Here are the 22 players receiving the most votes as of Thursday morning:
Backs: Rory Laird and Daniel Talia (Adelaide), Heath Shaw (GWS), Sam Docherty (Carlton), Dane Rampe (Sydney Swans), Alex Rance (Richmond).
Midfielders/rucks: Dan Hannebery and Josh Kennedy (Sydney Swans), Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong), Rory Sloane (Adelaide), Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn), Max Gawn (Melbourne).
Forwards: Josh Kennedy (West Coast), Eddie Betts (Adelaide), Tom Lynch (Gold Coast), Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn), Lance Franklin (Sydney Swans), Dustin Martin (Richmond).
Interchange: Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs), Luke Parker (Sydney Swans), Lachie Neale (Fremantle), Joel Selwood (Geelong).
