WEST Coast’s young midfield has been boosted by three key signings, with Tom Swift, Scott Selwood and Pat McGinnity agreeing to extended deals with the club.

Swift was West Coast’s second pick at the 2008 NAB AFL Draft (No.20 overall) and he has since played 20 AFL games to emerge as a crucial part of the club’s future midfield plans.

Selwood, who was recruited with pick No.22 at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft, has been a positive for the Eagles in a tough season, developing into one of the side’s best run-with options in 13 games this year.

General manager of football operations Neale Daniher said the promising young midfielders, as well as tenacious small defender McGinnity, were integral to the club’s future plans.

“As we build our team and our squad for the future, it is extremely important to have these young players commit to the club,” Daniher said.

“All three are integral in our future plans and it is good to have them locked away.

“We will continue to hone their skills as they are all very much in the development phase of their careers, but we have no doubt each of them will be key players in our future.

“Apart from the on-field attributes, they are also young players with leadership qualities, adding to their value for our club.”

It is West Coast club policy not to reveal the length of new player contracts.
