The night, held on Tuesday August 2nd at the Sebel Albert Park, saw 350 guests get up close and personal with the inner sanctum of Geelong Cats football.
CEO Brian Cook kicked off the evening announcing his commitment to the Geelong Cats in his newly signed three-year deal to stay on as Geelong Cats CEO. Cook highlighted that it has been a long journey for the club and we still have many challenges facing us in the coming months ahead.
Cook is extremely proud of the management of our player lists by our Football department. It has shown the introduction of new players into our senior list which allows us to see the likes of Vardy, Menzel and Christiensen merge into the Geelong game beautifully. This of course is going to be a hard task moving into finals to manage this list and ensure our best 22 are on the ground.
Cook concluded his speech by stating that we (Geelong Cats) face many challenges in the months ahead, and acknowledged how truly grateful he was to have so many of our key supporters in the room demonstrating their support for the club.
Cameron Mooney, in his first appearance as Master of Ceremonies, was assisted by Geelong Great and the ever experienced MC Billy Brownless. Joining them on the stage was Jimmy Bartel, Andrew Mackie and Joel Corey in a hard-hitting panel segment discussing the inside stories of the players at the club.
As the vocal talents of Ben Abraham filled the room before main course, the players were then joined by Chris Scott in the foyer for the opportunity for guests to receive autographs and claim their prizes in the Westfield Geelong Gift card Bonanza. Westfield Geelong are the Major Sponsor of Nine Lives-Geelong and continue to show their support strongly at our events.
One would have heard a pin drop as Chris Scott approached the microphone and thanked our supporters for their continual attendance and passion towards the Geelong Cats. When asked about the lead up to finals, Chris stated that for our humble group of champions, they will let their actions do the talking. Scott stated that humility makes Geelong a great club and they will carry that through with them into the final series.
The night pressed on with Event sponsors Specsavers, represented by Cr Stretch Kontelj and guests, treating all guests to VIP care packs at their tables. As the finals draw near, Geelong’s Assistant Coaches took to the podium to talk strategy, technology and each other’s roles in providing the inside scoop on the Geelong Cats call to action.
Geelong Cats Board Director and Nine Lives-Geelong Chair person Diana Taylor concluded the Wrap by drawing the raffle and joining the audience in thanking our magnificent line up of speakers and MC’s in Billy Brownless, Cameron Mooney, Brian Cook, Chris Scott, Jimmy Bartel, Andrew Mackie, Joel Corey, Brenton Sanderson, Nigel Lappin and Blake Caracella.
