PORT Adelaide forward Charlie Dixon will run during the club's upcoming pre-season training camp on the Sunshine Coast for the first time since badly breaking his leg.
The Power travelled to Queensland on Wednesday, anticipating that Dixon will take the most significant step in his recovery since suffering a fractured right leg in August.
Dixon fell awkwardly in a marking contest during Port Adelaide's round 21 loss to West Coast, with the injury ending his campaign and hindering his side's hunt for a finals place.
However, speaking at the Adelaide Airport ahead of the club's summer training camp, head of high performance Ian McKeown said the imposing forward was on track in his recovery.

"Charlie's itching to run," McKeown said.
"He's itching to get back and he'll run over the camp. The plan is to get him into plenty (of work), so when we get back after Christmas he'll be doing plenty of volume. We're getting closer.
He's doing a lot of preparing to run at the moment and … he'll get back to running fully when we get back.
Port Adelaide also remains hopeful that defender Hamish Hartlett will return from an ACL injury sustained in April in time to feature in the club's 2019 pre-season campaign.
Hartlett suffered the injury blow in round five, missing the remainder of the season, but appears on track to play JLT Community Series games before returning ahead of round one.
"He's such a dedicated athlete and very professional," McKeown said.
"He was always going to be in a good space at this time of year. We're holding him back and making sure he gets what he needs in.
"We're actually in a bit of a luxury with him that we can do that, because he's such a fantastic athlete. We'll put him back in when we see fit.
"Every day that he backs up and he backs up well, he'll do a little bit more and a little bit more.
"Nothing is off the table at this stage, but certainly the plan is to get him into games as soon as we possibly can."
