BULLDOG Sam Reid has joined Greater Western Sydney as the club's last uncontracted player.
The Giants had already signed Demon Tom Scully, Crow Phil Davis, Fremantle's Rhys Palmer and Reid's former teammate Callan Ward under the rule that allows them one uncontracted player from each club.
The Giants were permitted to sign Reid as well as his former housemate Ward after the Bulldogs granted them permission.
The AFL will now compensate the Bulldogs according to one of five classifications of players.
They received one first-round pick for losing Ward but will likely receive a lower pick for Reid.
Reid and Ward were both drafted by the Bulldogs in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft and debuted the following year.
Reid played four games this season for a total of 10 in a career that has been restricted by groin and shoulder injuries.
He was also diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the start of 2010.
The Giants can still sign uncontracted players at the end of next year but will require permission from the Bulldogs, Melbourne, Adelaide or Fremantle if they are to sign another one of their players.
They can not sign uncontracted players from Gold Coast.
