St Kilda Senior Coach Scott Watters has today announced that the Club’s playing list will participate in an Elite Performance Series as part of their pre-season training programme.

The Elite Performance Series will see players participate in a number of activities which cover the key areas of development - physiological, psychological, welfare and leadership.

Each part of the Elite Performance Series varies in duration, some including an overnight stay in a camp environment.

Watters, who took over the reins as Senior Coach in October, along with his new coaching team is focused on ensuring the players are fully prepared and ready for the 2012 season.

“We have a new coaching team with some new philosophies towards football preparation,” said Watters.

“Our focus for the pre-season is to ensure our systems are ingrained and every player is ready for our season opener,” explained Watters.

The Elite Performance Series runs concurrently with the players challenging pre-season training schedule.

“Many of the Elite Performance Series workshops cover personal development and leadership, which will help the players deliver both on and off the ground excellence,” explained Watters.

At the start of 2011, the St Kilda Football Club moved into a state-of-the-art facility at the Linen House Centre, Frankston, which has all the facilities the Club requires to achieve its performance based objectives.

“Our high-performance facility at the Linen House Centre is first-class.”

“We are extremely fortunate to have such a facility, and in conjunction with other resources around the Bayside area, we have everything we need to achieve optimum results from our pre-season program,” expressed Watters.

The first event in the Series will take place this Saturday at Mothers Beach in Mornington when the players take part in the Mornington 1200 Grand. This is a community event where competitors swim a 1.2km course from Mothers Beach to Mills Beach.

“It’s really important to the Club that we continue to build strong community relations, particularly with the local Bayside community.”
