HARLEY Bennell's fresh start at Fremantle will also begin with a new number, the controversial midfielder to don the No.4 guernsey for the Dockers in 2016.
Bennell was traded to the Dockers after a series of off-field incidents led Gold Coast to have no other choice but to part ways with the 23-year-old.
They did so in a deal that saw the Dockers give up picks No.16 and No.35 in November's NAB AFL Draft, in exchange for Bennell and the Suns' pick No.22.
Bennell wore the No.11 jumper in his last four seasons at Gold Coast, after starting out in No.37 in his first year at the Suns.
The talented midfielder asked Tommy Sheridan, the incumbent wearer of the No.11 at Fremantle, whether he would give up the jumper but the young Docker was not prepared to forego the number.
"I messaged him a couple of times, but he wouldn't buy it," Bennell said.
"I'm just happy I've got a number on a purple jumper."
Dockers champion Paul Haselby wore the No.4 jumper in 208 games and Bennell said he spoke to the 2003 All Australian about the number.
Top draftee Darcy Tucker has inherited recently retired defender Luke McPharlin's No.18, while Harley Balic will wear No.24 in his first season at the Dockers.
Sam Collins has been handed the No.40 and Shane Yarran will have Paul Duffield's No.41 on his back.
Rookies Matthew Uebergang (No.42) and Ryan Nyhuis (No.42) have also been allocated their jumpers, while upgraded rookie Ethan Hughes has taken over Ryan Crowley's old No.15.
New jumper numbers:
4 - Harley Bennell
15 - Ethan Hughes
18 - Darcy Tucker
24 - Harley Balic
40 - Sam Collins
41 - Shane Yarran
42 - Matthew Uebergang
43 - Ryan Nyhuis
